S-lab offers diverse outdoor spaces in which to work on projects related to urban food systems, ag tech, renewable energy generation technologies and more.
The roof top facilities in Thimann labs are open M - F from 9am to 3pm.
The UCSC arboretum is open 9am - 5 pm, 7 days a week.
S-lab, arboretum, currently operates two unique, power-generating greenhouses near the “New Zealand” region of the UCSC arboretum. These microgrids provide power to projects and are living test beds for simultaneous renewable power generation and enhanced plant growth. Several student projects and experiments are based here, including Off-the-Grid Aquaponics, Rainwater Catchment, and Smart Housing.
This outdoor space on the roof of Thimann can be used for projects or as a meeting space.
